How it works (Example):
For example, a nurse's job footprint may include administering medication, recording vital signs, and updating treatment files. A managing nurse's job footprint is larger in scope and may also include scheduling nursing shifts, tracking staffing hours for payroll purposes and ensuring the proper maintenance of patient rooms.
Why it Matters:
An employee's job footprint indicates the level of responsibility; his or her obligations expand relative to the size of the job footprint. Consequently, as an employee's job footprint widens, his or her pay should increase to compensate for additional levels of responsibility.
